SURROUNDINGS

Tamarin is an ancient fishing village known for its famous and beautiful bay located in the southwest of the island.

Since the 1970s, it has been the place par excellence for surfers of all nationalities and more particularly during the months of July-August. It is also in Tamarin that Mauritius salt is made. A visit of this small salt operation is highly recommended.

Tamarin offers a list of water sports and activities such as surfing, kayaking, SUP, swimming with dolphins, deep-sea fishing and some superb hikes in the Black River Gorges, a natural park covering an area of over 6500 hectares.

Tamarin is very well located about 15 minutes by car from Flic en Flac. It is even possible to reach the huge beach of Flic en Flac by foot from Tamarin Bay. A short walk of about thirty minutes.

Nearby, you'll find Le Morne located on the southwestern tip of Mauritius. Le Morne is home to one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches on the island. The tip is very popular with kite-surfers because of its ideal climatic conditions with perfect winds almost all year round for the practice of this sport. Le Morne Brabant is a mountain classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since July 6, 2008 under the name of "Paysage culturel du Morne". Symbol of freedom, this mountain is the habitat of many endemic species. This hike offers a breathtaking view of our lagoons and will delight lovers of thrills.
